Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research)

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research) provides the academic leadership, strategic direction and oversight of the University's Higher Degree Research programs (PhD, MPhil, Higher Doctorates).

They have responsibility for the strategic planning, development and implementation of research training policy, and for ensuring a vibrant, supportive and responsive environment for postgraduate research at ANU that enhances the research student experience and delivers excellent outcomes.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research) works collaboratively with College Deans, Associate Deans (Higher Degree Research), University and College Research areas, ANUSA, supervisors and professional staff across the University, and the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation).

Professor Ann Evans currently holds this role. Ann is a demographer, trained at ANU, and has been an HDR student, HDR Convenor, Associate Dean HDR, and HDR Supervisor in her time here.

Ann’s primary research interest lies in the area of inequality and family demography, and she undertakes research in the following areas: cohabitation and marriage, relationship formation and dissolution, fertility and contraception, young motherhood and migrant settlement and family formation.
