Oxford Australia Scholarships Funds
The Oxford Australia Scholarships Funds support approximately five scholarships each year for talented Australian graduates to study at The University of Oxford. The Oxford Australia Fund was initiated to endow scholarships each year for academically outstanding Australian graduates to go to The University of Oxford for study and research. The first scholarships were established at The Australian National University in connection with the Campaign for Oxford 1993, with donations from Australian Oxford alumni and a large benefaction from the late Mr James Fairfax AC. The first scholarship was awarded in 1998.
Scholarship selection is made on academic merit across the entire range of university disciplines with (partial) funding provided to Australian university graduates for the duration of a full-time Masters or Doctorate degree, or a second undergraduate degree, at Oxford. Only candidates who have not experienced international study before are eligible. An application allows the candidate to be considered for any of the available scholarships.
In addition to the James Fairfax fund, a number of Oxford College linked funds provide specific scholarships thanks to generous donations from their Australian alumni and with matching College support:
- University College Old Members Oxford Australia Scholarship
- Magdalen College Oxford Australia Scholarship
- Ian Wilson-Guy White Magdalen College Oxford Australia Scholarship
