There are a range of services available at the University to support student wellbeing. On this page you will find descriptions of ANU service providers and their contact details. 

For 24/7 crisis support, you can contact the ANU Wellbeing and Support Line on 1300 050 327. You can also visit our Urgent Support page for a list of 24/7 and crisis support options. If you or anybody else is in immediate danger please dial 000 for emergency services.

The Student Safety and Wellbeing team offers free and confidential support for students who have been impacted by sexual assault or sexual harassment (directly or indirectly) as well as a range of other concerns that may impact on a student's engagement and experience while at ANU.

ANU Counselling is a free, confidential and non-diagnostic service available to all currently enrolled ANU students. For crisis support, please refer https://www.anu.edu.au/students/health-safety-wellbeing/getting-help-at-anu/urgent-support. No referral or Mental Health Care Plan from a General Practitioner is required to attend appointments.  

ANU Medical Centre (formerly the National Health Co-op)

ANU Medical Centre is the on-campus health services provider, which offers General Practitioner and other primary health services.

ANU Psychology Clinic

Availability: Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm and Fridays 8am-4pm. Closed on Tuesdays.

The ANU Psychology Clinic offers reduced-rate psychological services to ANU students. The clinic does not require a General Practitioner's referral (although referrals can be used nonetheless). The clinic is staffed by registered clinical and provisional psychologists. Please note that the clinic may not be accessible for students studying a psychology program.

The Respectful Relationships Unit can provide information, support, case coordination and referral for those impacted by sexual assault or sexual harassment, including those supporting someone who has experienced sexual assault or sexual harassment. The Respectful Relationships Unit leads the University's ongoing work to prevent sexual assault and sexual harassment before it occurs and to respond appropriately when it does happen.

ANU Chaplaincy is endorsed by the University and is provided by a multifaith team of chaplains, including members of Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Humanist traditions.

24/7 ANU Wellbeing and Support Line

The ANU Wellbeing and Support Line is a confidential and free personal crisis counselling available after hours and on weekends. It is available to all ANU students at no cost to them, for support with situational stress, emotional difficulties and mental health concerns. It is also available to all ANU student leaders for debriefing and wellbeing support.

Academic Skills offers assistance with fundamental academic skills. Academic Skills offers appointments and can help with time management, referencing, reading strategically, making a clear argument, and much more. ANUSA is the peak representative body for all undergraduate students at ANU. Undergraduate students and ANU College students are automatically members of ANUSA. ANUSA offers support, advice and assistance to undergraduate ANU Students on academic, accommodation, legal, financial and other matters.

There are a wide variety of tools and informational resources available online that can support your mental wellbeing. While these may not be a replacement for professional psychological or counsellor assistance, they can provide you with greater insight, tips, and information to support you and enhance your wellbeing.

moodgym

moodgym is like an interactive self-help book which helps you to learn and practise skills which can help to prevent and manage symptoms of depression and anxiety. moodgym was originally developed and evaluated over 15 years by researchers at the Australian National University. MindSpot provides free, anonymous assessment and treatment for adults experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and chronic pain. Find it here: mindspot.org.au/

Australian Psychological Society

The APS offers a variety of useful information on a number of psychological topics including depression, anxiety, grief, stress, and relationship troubles (among many others).
