ANU China Centre April Events Highlights

17 May 2022

April is a busy and enjoyable time for ANU students who have just finished a busy mid-term period and are quickly approaching the highly competitive spring recruitment process. ANU students have a good balance of work and study, and those who remain in China during the mid-term break can also experience an Australian barbecue with friends through the ANU China Centre Chengdu Study Hub.

The beginning of April was our ANU mid-term break, and on 8 April 2022, Liz, Manager of the ANU Chengdu Study Hub, led the ANU students to the shores of Ludao Lake in the south of the city to enjoy a delicious meal and have a fun time together. Engaging activities such as trekking, playing in the water, barbecuing and an Easter egg hunt relieved the students of the stressful first half of the term and the worries caused by the pandemic. We are leading the way by encouraging ANU students to study hard while keeping their minds and bodies in a positive state!

On 25 March 2022, students are preparing for their mid-term exams in semester one 2022. The ANU China Centre invited four outstanding students to share their study and exam preparation experiences. The seminar helped students to solve many common problems they encountered during mid-term exams, such as how to prepare efficiently for mid-term exams, how to solve unexpected situations during exams, how to properly deal with exam stress, and relieve stress, etc.

On 11 April 2022, ANU's Spring Recruitment Day was held as scheduled. Jessie Zhao, who is from the School of Business and Economics with many years of experience in the HR field, provided help and preparation for the spring recruitment process, including a presentation on the spring recruitment process, interview skills sharing, and one-on-one CV revision in the second half of the event. Students left their questions about spring recruitment during the event registration, and Jessie also explained to ANUers online at the event, helping them prepare for spring recruitment efficiently.

A second-year student from the ANU Shanghai Study Hub said: "Due to the COVID situation in Shanghai in early March, everyone in Shanghai was forced to stay at home in quarantine. Although we were unable to travel to the study centre to study, the university did not stop providing us with help and support. The Australian National China Centre still put together events such as spring recruitment and mid-term exams in an online format, and these events allowed me, who was quarantined at home, and even my classmates who had already returned to Australia, to participate."
