The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking a dedicated marketing and PR officer based in Beijing to work within ANU China Centre, which is wholly owned by ANU.

The enthusiastic and talented person will apply their communication and management skills to supporting the marketing and PR aspects of the team including organizing and overseeing PR activities and ensure effective communication with stakeholders, media and the public. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in ANU China Centre, ANU Marketing department, colleges and other external stakeholders. 

Position overview

The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking a dedicated administrator to work with our Future Students International (FSI) team in China. The role will be based in Beijing within ANU China Centre and report to the Regional Recruitment Manager (China), fully dedicated to representing ANU.

The position will support University's key education agency partners in China, assisting in administration and recruitment work to foster collaboration toward outcomes that support the University's strategic goals.

The enthusiastic and talented person will apply their administrative skills to supporting the operational aspects of the team including implementation of targeted marketing and student recruitment activities, communications and initiatives, and process improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in the broader FSI team and University stakeholders (e.g. Academic Colleges) and will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders and projects.

Key duties:

  • Support the Regional Manager (China) and other staff in the recruitment of international students and delivery of international business.
  • Process and respond to enquiries including e-mail/WeChat from education agents, perspective students and parents. In addition, assist with internal communication to ANU Colleges (faculties) and providing feedback on admissions policies.
  • Assist in conducting market research, benchmarking and data analysis, drafting reports and liaising with regional vendors and contractors.
  • Support the planning, organising, administration and delivery of recruitment events. In addition, support the preparation of marketing and promotional materials, and editing and producing multimedia material for digital publications.
  • This role requires work outside of the ordinary span of hours, for example, and/or on weekends, and will involve domestic/international travel.
  • Perform other duties as directed and in line with the principle of multi-skilling.
  • Fulfil other tasks assigned by the Director, ANU China Centre

Experience

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification. Graduates with experience from overseas universities, preferably Australian institutions, are encouraged to apply. 
  • Proven experience from the education industry, preferably with international student recruitment, education agents and/or higher education including in an Australian context.
  • Sound administrative knowledge with preferrable experience in event management, customer relationship management and social media marketing.
  • Proven ability to work well within a team environment as well as to independently organise work priorities, multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Self-driven with proven ability of time management.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills. Native-level Mandarin Chinese and advanced spoken and written English skills.
  • High proficiency in the use of MS office suites particularly in designing spreadsheets, visualizing data, word processing, and preferably video editing and poster design.  
  • A demonstrated high level of understanding of equal opportunity principles and a strong understanding of cross-cultural issues. Able to navigate cultural nuances of working in an Australian context. 

Availability:

The successful candidate will be recruited through the ANU China Centre as an ANU local based staff in China, remotely working under the ANU Future Students International Division based in Canberra, Australia.

The candidate is expected to start this position full-time as soon as possible. The role will require domestic travel within mainland China.

Employment type:

Fixed term, full time.

Reporting line:

The position will report directly to Regional Recruitment Manager (China) and ANU China Centre Office Manager for administration management.
