Associate Professor Marvin Wee

Marvin Wee is an Associate Professor at the Research School of Accounting and the Director of Students and Learning at CBE. Marvin has significant experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and has a strong track record of effective and innovative teaching. Marvin is a director on the board of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australian and New Zealand since 2016. As the co-director of the association's Doctoral Symposium, he is passionate about investing in the next generation of researchers, and providing students with world-class research skills and knowledge.

Marvin's research on company disclosures and information asymmetry is directed at both academics and practitioners, and is strengthened by his prior industry experience. His research seeks to understand how companies communicate effectively with stakeholders. Marvin has published in leading academic journals, and has presented his research to standard setters and regulators including the US Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board and the International Accounting Standards Board.

If elected as an Academic Board member, Marvin would like to advocate for: (1) improvements in student engagement by rethinking our approach to teaching and ensuring adequate resources are provided to convenors, and (2) the streamlining of administrative processes such as timetabling and curriculum management.
