Dr Deirdre Howard-Wagner

I wish to express an interest in the opportunity to serve as an academic staff member from the College of
Arts and Social Sciences on the ANU Academic Board as the principal policy-making and advisory body on
all academic matters relating to and affecting ANU's teaching, research and educational programs. I
consider this an invaluable opportunity to play an active collegial role in assuring academic standards and
quality, and, in fulfilling this role, ensuring academic freedom, integrity and high standards in research,
assessment and admissions at ANU.

I have extensive experience serving on government, community and academic committees, including, but
not limited to, Chair of the CASS RAP Sub-Committee, President of the Law and Society Association of
Australia and New Zealand, Committee Member ABS Population and Social Surveys Advisory Committee,
and Committee Member ABS National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey Advisory
Committee.
