Dr Naomi Hay
Naomi is lecturer and convenor of the Design (Honours) program at the School of Art and Design. Since joining ANU in 2021 she has contributed significantly to ANU's academic community as Co-Chair of the Network for Early Career Academics (NECTAR) 2022-2023, where she helped to develop strategic direction and initiatives. In 2023 she participated in ANU’s Leading Learning and Teaching Program and was CASS representative for ANU’s Employability Framework Working Group. She is a member of the SOAD Education Committee.
Naomi’s transdisciplinary research with ICEDS focuses on the role of design in community resilience, adaptive capacity, and disaster risk reduction in a changing climate. She collaborates with community stakeholders, industry partners, and regional councils. She is committed to socially and environmentally responsible practice and is part of a team awarded a Strategic Learning and Teaching Grant ‘Social Impact Studio: Preparing to Collaborate’. Her teaching places emphasis on industry and community-oriented projects, equipping students to address multifaceted societal, environmental, climatic, and technological challenges.
If elected to the Academic Board, Naomi will continue her efforts to enhance student learning experience, uphold standards in teaching and scholarship, advocate for EMCAs shaping the future of ANU, and contribute to the advancement of transdisciplinary research.
