Professor Fiona Jenkins
I am a Professor in the School of Philosophy and have 20 years of experience at ANU as a research and teaching academic. I am also the Convenor of the ANU Gender Institute, which I helped to establish in 2011. My work in the Gender Institute creates a research and policy community across campus, within Canberra, and internationally, and enables diverse ANU voices to shape progress on gender matters. It has also given me wide experience in engaging on gender equity as an advocate and representative.
I have served both on Academic Board and within the IDEA framework at ANU. I have a deep practical commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and in 2019 was a co-recipient of the Clare Burton Award for excellence in this area. My research has included leading an ARC Discovery which looked at gendered patterns of excellence in social sciences. I am an innovative educator and was awarded for my teaching by CASS in 2021.
As a member of Council, I would aim to ensure the ANU places the highest importance on supporting and developing excellent researchers and educators, alongside improving student and staff experience, and building a more diverse and inclusive campus.
