Advancing cultural diversity in Australian politics

When: Wednesday 17 February 2021, 2.00-3.00pm AEDT

Where: Zoom - register for your personalised link

Moderated by Jieh-Yung Lo, Director of the ANU Centre for Asian-Australian Leadership, the discussion will examine:

  • ideas and initiatives to provide a better pathway for Asian-Australians to run for public office
  • how to make Australian democracy more inclusive, accessible and representative
  • what can be done to remove stereotypes surrounding Asian-Australians as 'perpetually foreign' and 'too silent' to be more politically engaged
  • how to elevate Asian-Australian voices on public policy issues, and
  • what political parties and other civic movements can do to prioritise and push for better Asian-Australian participation to increase ethnic and culturally diverse representation and leadership in Australian politics.

We hope you can join us and please feel free to forward this invitation to your ANU alumni friends!
