ANU New Year Water Festival
Presented by ANU College of Asia & the Pacific
The ANU School of Culture, History & Language (CHL) is proud to host this culmination of the three-day ANU New Year Water Festival in celebration of the Myanmar New Year in April, also known as the Water Festival. The occasion originated from old Hinduism but is now widely recognised as a culture of Theravada Buddhism countries.
The festival is spread across three days from 17 to 19 April, and features:
- Mediating Monasticism: Faith and Devotion in Contemporary Thailand (17 April)
- Book Party: Silver Screens and Golden Dreams (18 April)
- ANU Water Festival: Grand Finale
At the grand finale of this festival, the Burmese Program and ANU Myanmar Student Association will present some dancing, karaoke and a taste of Myanmar cuisine!
Plus, it is an ideal opportunity to learn a lot about not only Myanmar and the Burmese language, but also about the cultures of neighboring countries.
