What will engineering look like in 2050?

Presented by ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics

Last year marked 30 years of the Bachelor of Engineering program at ANU. You are invited to join our esteemed panel of experts, as we reflect on the past 30 years and look ahead to engineering in the next 30.

Facilitated by Professor Lachlan Blackhall (Head of the ANU Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program, CECS) and featuring:

  • Distinguished Professor Genevieve Bell (Head 3A Institute and Director ANU School of Cybernetics, CECS)
  • Jane Macmaster (Chief Engineer - Engineers Australia)
  • Adrian Piani (ACT Chief Engineer)
  • Mikaela Jade (Indigital)

Much has changed in the field of engineering and the wider world since it was first taught at ANU in 1990. Our world is changing at a continuously rapid pace, with technology and innovation playing an ever-increasing role in our everyday lives. Engineers have been at the forefront of change, performing vital roles exploring solutions for the issues of our time - whether that be automation, climate change, or global pandemics. Looking forward another 30 years to 2050, how will the world and engineering have changed? And what will engineering look like?

Please note that the venue for this event has changed and is now being held in the Hanna Neumann Bldg #145.
