Capture the Flag 2024

Time travel with ASD - this year's 24-hr Capture the Flag (CTF) is open to all Australian students with curious and creative minds.

Test your problem-solving skills by solving challenges and puzzles created by staff from the Australian Signals Directorate. Just like careers at ASD, the topics are varied and include:

Cryptography
Languages
Programming
Open Source Intelligence
Computer Security
Puzzles
And more!

New to CTFs? No problem! No previous skills are required, you can pick them up along the way.

This competition is a great way to learn about the work and interests of ASD and win great prizes, too! You can play online- all you need is an internet connection.

To play, you must register your team (up to 6 people) via the CTF website using an email address ending with 'edu.au'.

Game On! in-person and online: Thursday 18 July 12pm(AEST)/10am(AWST) until Friday 19 July, 12pm(AEST)/10am(AWST)

Challenge writers panel event: Friday 19 July @1:30pm(AEST)/11:30am(AWST)

In-person events

Students who are Australian citizens and 18+ years of age are invited to join us to play in-person at a host location below. Registration is required to attend one or both days of the in-person event using the links for each location below:

In-person activities in Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne will run from 11:30am Thursday until 2:30pm Friday (AEST), while the activities in Perth will run from 9:30am Thursday until 12:30pm Friday (AWST).

Proof of citizenship (e.g. current passport) will be required on arrival.

Important: You must register for the competition separately on the CTF website (see the 'Register' button on this page) in addition to registering your attendance at these in-person events.
