18th Latin American Film festival

Presented by ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences

The Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) is an initative of the Latin American Embassies in Australia to showcase their culture and film industry.

The Embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela have partnered once again to bring the biggest festival of its kind to cities throughout the country. This Festival provides an opportunity to reach the Australian public through the universal language of film. Furthermore, in keeping with the spirit of LAFF as a not-for-profit event, all the screenings are free of charge and open to the public. It is also an opportunity to bring the community together with Latino-flavoured events, and to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of Latin American communities to Australian multiculturalism.

The 18th Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) is sponsored by ANU Film Group, the Latin American Students Association, the Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR), and the Australian National Centre for Latin American Studies (ANCLAS).

The 18th LAFF will be launched in Canberra on 9 August 2023. All 8 films will be screened at Kambri Theatre, ANU, between the 9th and 16th of August. Find the program here.

The approach for this year's Latin American Film Festival will differ from that of the previous year.
The latter portion of the festival commences on Thursday 14 September 2023 and spans seven successive nights, culminating in the Closing Night event on Wednesday 20 September 2023.
