Academic integrity guest speaker: Professor Rowena Harper

Professor Rowena Harper, one of Australia's leading researchers on academic integrity, will provide an update on the current national conversation around academic integrity.

Professor Harper will present insights from her own research on students' views on cheating at university and separate findings on staff views around academic integrity management. She will be available for a Q and A around her presentation, the role of assessment design in preventing and detecting cheating, and the organisational factors needed to foster a strong culture and practices of academic integrity. 

This session will be helpful for any ANU academic, tutor, or staff member involved in ensuring ANU students and staff conduct themselves with academic integrity and scholarly professionalism. You will be provided with instructions on how to join this session via Zoom prior to the webinar.

Speaker bio: Professor Rowena Harper is Director of the Centre for Learning and Teaching at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, where she oversees the areas of Teaching Quality, Learning Support, Learning Technologies and Academic Integrity. She is a former President of the Association for Academic Language and Learning, and co-founder of the International Consortium of Academic Language and Learning Developers. As an active researcher, she has also published and won research grants in areas including educational development in digital learning environments, English language and communication development, and academic integrity.
