After a decade of reform, where next for the National Disability Insurance Scheme?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme was launched just over a decade ago and was heralded as the most significant social policy reform since Medicare. The aims of the scheme are to give choice and control to people with permanent and significant disability and to provide a consistent national funding approach that would provide certainty for people with disability now and in the future. Over the last 10 years the scheme has undergone sustained reform and there has been consistent debate over the sustainability of the scheme. Last year’s NDIS Review explored the design, operations and sustainability of the NDIS and since its publication we have seen significant changes made to the scheme’s legislation and rules. In this panel we explore a wealth of research into the NDIS over the last decade exploring the major changes to the scheme and considering where it might go next and the role that research might play in supporting this
