Immersia 2023: What makes Korean (historical) movies so extraordinary?

Professor Kyung Moon Hwang introduces some of his favourite Korean movies from his new book, "Fate and Freedom in Korean Historical Films".

Professor Kyung Moon Hwang from the ANU School of Culture, History & Language introduces some of his favourite Korean movies from his new book, Fate and Freedom in Korean Historical Films.

It's a way to look into these works' depictions of the Korean past as a way to understand the Korean present. The event will feature a 45-minute presentation, followed by a 45-minute Q&A and discussion.

Kyung Moon Hwang is a Korea Foundation Professor and the Director of the ANU Korea Institute.
