Mirage: Sebastian Field and Sia Ahmad in response to Idris Murphy

Sebastian Field

Canberra-based songwriter and producer, Sebastian Field, is currently in a state of transformation. Where he once created expansive excursions into experimental songwriting, populated by polyrhythmic melodies and specular atmospheres, through the likes of his 2019 release 'Picture Stone', Field now finds himself focussed on abstractions and minimalism, through engagement in both electronic composition, and processed ambient guitar textures. The release of his 2021 sophomore album 'Sandcandles' saw this transformation flourish into fruition, as its textural, electronic landscapes populated by immersive fogs of ambience, skittering flourishes of plastic percussion and avant-garde vocal production brought a new Field to the fore. His new release 'Prescients EP' continues the trend as Field experiments further with minimalism, texture and tone, in a collection of electronic works that Field states 'is a prequel to Sandcandles, that continues the hidden narrative'. To celebrate the launch of 'Prescients EP' through Provenance Collective, Field invites you to join him for an evening of processed ambient guitar textures, evocative of artists such as Benoit Pioulard and Taylor Deupree, that will seek to mirror Murphy's motifs of translucence, reflection and illusionistic vignette.
