Speaker Profiles:

Dylan MH Loh is an assistant professor at the public policy and global affairs program, Nanyang Technological University. His research interests includes Chinese diplomatic practices, ASEAN regionalism and international diplomacy. His recent publications have appeared in International Affairs, China Quarterly and Global Studies Quarterly. Dylan's forthcoming book - China's Rising Foreign Ministry - will be published in April 2024 by Stanford University Press in their Asian Security series.

Alex Yu-Ting Lin is Senior Research Fellow and Assistant Director at the University of Notre Dame's International Security Center. Alex studies the causes and strategies of revisionism in world politics, with a focus on U.S.-China relations and Asian security. His book project, Provocations from Below, theorizes how smaller states shape when and why rising powers seek to revise the existing international system for status. An article manuscript from the book project received the Patricia Weitsman award from the International Security Studies Section (ISSS), International Studies Association (ISA). His other research examines how states pursue revisionism through economic or information statecraft. His work has appeared in the Journal of Global Security Studies and Review of International Political Economy. Alex received his PhD from the University of Southern California and held fellowships with the Institute for Security and Conflict Studies at the George Washington University and the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University.

Yusuke Ishihara is Senior Fellow at the National Institute for Defence Studies (NIDS), Ministry of Defence, Japan (joined in 2010). His current research topic includes Japan's grand strategy, Japanese foreign policy changes in the 1970s, and Japanese 'strategic diplomacy'. Yusuke completed his PhD in International Relations and Strategic Studies at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre (SDSC), The Australian National University (ANU) in 2023.
