RSB Directors Seminar - SARS-CoV2 genomic surveillance in the ACT – A collaboration between ANU and ACT Health
Presented by ANU College of Science
We will take the audience through a vivid journey of how we are tracing SARS-CoV2 in the ACT throughout the pandemic. We illustrate the ups, downs, and lockdowns of SARS-CoV2 genomic surveillance. The audience will come away with an understanding how integral genomic surveillance is to the public health response. We illustrate specific examples how genomics was used to delineate transmission chains during the Delta outbreak in 2021 and how it determined the lower bound of incursion into the ACT during lockdown. Ever since late-2021 we are chasing COVID-19 waves with successive selective sweeps that can be watch in real time via sequencing. Of course, we mention twitter as well and share anecdotes of pure chaos and exhaustion.
This will be a joint presentation between RSB, affiliates, and ACT Health.
