The history of dark matter and dark energy

Presented by ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics

About 68% of the universe is made of dark energy, and dark matter is about 27% of the universe.

The rest - everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all normal matter - adds up to less than 5% of the universe.

Come to think of it, maybe it shouldn't be called "normal" matter at all... since it is such a small fraction of the known universe.

But what is it, and how did we come to learn about its existence? Come join us in this young stars session to find out.

Suitable ages: 6-12+

But if you're older and interested, join anyway!
