JG Crawford Oration - delivered by Professor Stan Grant |
Last night Professor Stan Grant delivered a powerful oration, The Witness of Poetry: the silent breath, reflecting on the outcome of the Voice to Parliament referendum.
"It is the morning after the No. Somewhere my mother is rising, she will pour water into two cups…her daily ritual. She prepares for this. Each night she places a spoonful of coffee into two cups: one for her, one for my father. Mum and dad, they have always pledged their tomorrows to hope . . . And soon, I fear too soon. There will be just one cup. Then none. No more tomorrows for my mother and my father. Then I will drink from my mother's cup." The ANU Crawford Leadership Forum, now in its 10th year, is the premier leadership event of its kind in Australia and is proudly supported by Mirvac.
Under this year's theme of Democratic resilience and renewal for the 21st century, the forum brings together leading thinkers and practitioners from business, government and academia from Australia and around the world, examining key issues facing democracies today.

Outstanding result for new Enterprise Agreement |
The Australian National University Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026 has been accepted by the majority of staff in the ballot that closed at 5pm on Friday 27 October 2023.
A total of 3248 staff voted, with 94 per cent in favour of the new Agreement. This is an outstanding result, with the highest level of participation and endorsement of a proposed new Enterprise Agreement in our history at ANU.
Our new Agreement will place ANU in an excellent position to continue delivering on our strategic goals, give great outcomes to our students, and importantly, give real wage growth and benefits that ensures that we continue to lead in the sector, and be an employer of choice in Australia.
The University will now make an application to the Fair Work Commission to have the Enterprise Agreement formally approved. This new Agreement will come into effect seven days after the University is notified of the formal approval. The ANU Bargaining Team can be contacted with any questions via ea.comments@anu.edu.au. |
