Tribute to Vicki Stanley
The Office of Business Engagement and Commercialisation (BEC) team, ANU and the Canberra community, have been saddened by the passing of Vicki Stanley.
A highly valued member of BEC and omni-present in the wider ANU community for seven years, Vicki was a vibrant, community-spirited person, supportive colleague, giving mentor and cherished friend.
While Vicki had recently moved from ANU to a new role as Membership and Business Development Manager at Cooperative Research Australia, the impact of her time at ANU has been significant and ongoing.
Vicki's dedication to her role as Manager of flagship student entrepreneurship programmeInnovationACT (IACT) earned her the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Innovation & Excellence in Service in 2020.When she took over as Manager, Vicki redesigned IACT into an intensive 10-week program which challenges students to develop their business ideas in real time through the support of workshops, mentorship and public pitching events. Navigating the challenges created by COVID-19, she also successfully adapted IACTfrom a hands-on, in-person programme into an imaginative, engaging virtual set-up, delivered to more than 100 local entrepreneurs.
"Vicki's leadership in the ongoing evolution of IACT, in which she passionately guided hundreds of students as they learned about entrepreneurship for the first time and her commitment to both her work and colleagues within BEC was a shining example of her spirit and commitment," says Director of BEC, Keats Nelms.
