Equipment and Assistive Technology on campus
Accessibility provide a variety of assistive technology to students including software, hardware, venues equipped with hearing loop technology, and the Chifley Resource Room located on Level 3 in Chifley Library.
There are two special access computers located on Level 2 of the JB Chifley Library. Priority is given to students who have accessibility issues at other computers.
Chifley Resource Room
Chifley Resource Room is located on Level 3 of the Chifley Library and is open during normal library hours and contains the following resources:
- A rest area and study desks
- Microwave for heat packs only
- A separate restroom that can be booked hourly
- Multi-Function Device (MFD)- Photocopier/ printer/ scanner
- High definition Topaz HD desktop magnifier for vision impairments
- Two booths for those using speech to text and text to speech software
- The latest update Windows/ MAC OS with Assistive Technology software loaded
- Ergonomic furniture and equipment included an adjustable chair, adjustable desk, mouse, footrests, and book holder
- An internal phone for contacting Library Chifley staff, Security, ITS service desk, Access & Inclusion office and other services
- Assistive technology software including:
- Dragon Naturally Speaking- speak recognition software
- ZoomText Magnifier/Reader- screen magnifier and reading program for low-vision users
- TextHelp Read&Write gold- literacy support software
- JAWS- screen reader software for blind and low-vision users
This room is available for use by eligible students registered with Access & Inclusion. Swipe card access is required and can be arranged by through the student's Education Access Plan (EAP).
