Southeast Asian Frontiers short course in Thailand

Southeast Asian Frontiers is a 12-unit four-week intensive interdisciplinary course that involves a combination of lectures, language training, fieldwork and research. This program will introduce you to Thai and Burmese language and culture to frame your investigation into humanitarian issues, international relations, transnational security, human rights and border trade. You will then visit with community-based activities while learning from social activists, migrant groups, NGO workers, anti-narcotics agents, government officials and more. Previous participants have gone on to careers with DFAT, Immigration and Defence, to work with NGOs in Thailand and Myanmar, and to conduct PhD research on issues affecting the region.

In 2016, this program has Australian Government New Colombo Program funding grants of AUD $3,000 for eligible students.
