Dr Caroline Henderson-Brooks
Caroline Henderson-Brooks is an experienced Learning Adviser and linguist, with an interest in guiding students in all the different text types required for successful university academic reading and writing. She has a PhD in Linguistics from Macquarie University, which investigated the construal of self in Psychiatric discourse. Her teaching and learning support experience is across both city and regional universities, giving her a broad understanding of the different stages individual students may be at in their academic journey and how to best support their learning needs. She is particularly interested in marking feedback and annotated exemplars for guiding students in assessment writing. Her academic literacy publications include the topics: the role of Grademark for supporting academic literacy; the impact of marking on educators; and research into the needs of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) students.
