Professor Ann Evans
Professor Ann Evans was appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research) in February 2024. She was previously Dean, Higher Degree Research from 20 May 2019. Ann is a demographer, trained at ANU, and has been an HDR student, HDR Convenor, Associate Dean HDR, and HDR Supervisor in her time here. She holds a PhD, Masters and a Bachelor degree from ANU.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research) provides the academic leadership, strategic direction and oversight of the University's Higher Degree Research Programs (PhD, MPhil, Higher Doctorates) to ensure delivery of high quality, internationally benchmarked research programmes.
They have responsibility for strategic planning, development and implementation of research training policy and for ensuring a vibrant, supportive and responsive environment for postgraduate research at ANU that enhances the research student experience and delivers excellent student outcomes.
They work collaboratively with College Deans, Associate Deans (Higher Degree Research), University and College Research and Research Training Committees, ANUSA, supervisors and professional staff across the University, and the offices of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education).
