Your Graduation Day

What to expect on the day

Please find below the steps you will need to complete throughout the day.

If you cannot attend your graduation day for any reason, please let us know at graduation.officer@anu.edu.au

Don't worry, you can attend a future ceremony.

Step 1 - Regalia Collection

Graduation regalia (gowns, hoods, mortarboards, bonnets etc) will be available for collection on the day of your graduation ceremony. The location and details will be sent to you by our supplier Reeds Graduation Services after you place and order.

Step 2 - Registration

Graduand registration will open 90 minutes before your ceremony.

To confirm your attendance on the day of the ceremony, you must officially register in person. You must be dressed in regalia to register. Please proceed to the Larry Sitsky Room in the School of Music (Building 100) to register. You will be provided with your ticket at the registration table; students must sit in their allocated seat.

You should register no later than one hour prior to your ceremony commencement time.

Step 3 - Graduation

Your graduation ceremony will take place in Llewellyn Hall (School of Music), commencing strictly at the advertised start time. Please ensure you have completed Steps 1 and 2 prior to making your way to your allocated seat.

All graduands and guests must be seated 15 minutes prior to your ceremony commencement time. Movement will be kept to an absolute minimum within the venue.

A standard graduation ceremony will take approximately 90 minutes.

All events will be live-streamed (links will be published closer to the ceremony date).

Step 4 - After-ceremony celebration

Following your graduation ceremony, we would like to invite you to a celebratory reception at the Piazza, outside of the School of Music. Canapes and refreshments will be provided free-of-charge.

Step 5 - Photography, Framing

Photography and framing services will be available in the Athenaeum, located in the foyer of the School of Music. Photography studios are open before and after the ceremony.

Other graduation memorabilia, such as soft toys, rings, and flowers will also be available for purchase.

Step 6 - Regalia return

Please return your regalia - if hired - to the Peter Karmel Building.

Step 7 - Stay in touch
