How to disclose sexual misconduct

You can disclose an incidence of sexual misconduct using the ANU Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form.

In the context of increased numbers of online disclosures in 2021, ANU has developed a service partnership with a community service provider with expertise in responding to sexual assault and harassment and a 24 hour support line. This partnership will ensure ANU can meet our service performance standard of an initial response to all online disclosures within 72 hours of the disclosure being provided.

Disclosing an incidence of sexual assault or sexual harassment at ANU is not the same as reporting. By disclosing to the Respectful Relationships Unit and Service Partner, you will be given accurate information about where to go for help care and support.

To disclose, you can complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form.

If you don't want to be identified, you can create a disposable email address exclusively for this purpose by following the instructions offered by Google.

The Respectful Relationships Unit and Service Partner will deal with any information you provide in accordance with the University's Privacy Policy. The Respectful Relationships Unit and Service Partner will not share any information you provide with anyone else without your permission, unless your safety or the safety of others is at risk, you are under the age of 18, or you provide enough information about an ANU staff member who is believed to be responsible for sexual misconduct that they can be identified.

When disclosing to the Respectful Relationships Unit and Service Partner using this form, you can include as much or as little information as you like. The important thing is that you can receive information about where to go for help.

You don't have to disclose to the Respectful Relationships Unit. You can choose to disclose to someone else that you trust and feel comfortable with. You can also make a report instead of or as well as disclosing. You can find more information on disclosing at Difference between disclosure and reporting.

How to complete the form

You can provide as much or as little information in the form as you want. The only information that you will be required to provide is an email address, and you can create a disposable email address exclusively for this purpose by following the instructions offered by Google. The form will ask you some basic questions about yourself, about the person who experienced the sexual assault or sexual harassment (if that wasn't you), about the incident, and provide a space for you to choose to provide any additional information if you want. Remember, you only need to answer the questions with which you feel comfortable, and you only need to provide as much detail as you feel comfortable doing.
