Patrick Troy Memorial Prize in Urban and Environmental Studies

The objective/s of the prize is to support a student who has made a valuable contribution in the area of Urban Systems and Sustainability. This prestigious prize will support students to learn and develop their skills with experts in sustainable urban futures. As exemplified by Professor Troy, these future leaders will be equipped to influence planning of cities and improve urban life for everyone's benefit.

The value of the prize/s awarded is $1000 per annum.

The prize will be on offer from 2023.

Funding for this prize has been provided by the family of Patrick Troy.

Professor Troy AO (1936-2018) was a pivotal figure in urban research in Australia and renowned internationally. He was a civil engineer, town planner, public servant, academic, mentor, and generous educator, who was passionate about producing liveable cities that ensured fairness and equity as well as environmentally sustainable outcomes. His numerous books and other publications helped shape public policy and changed the role of government in urban and regional development.
