ANU+ Volunteering Fair: Connecting Passionate Students with Community Opportunities

The ANU+ Volunteering Fair was a vibrant and inspiring event, bringing together students to explore meaningful volunteer opportunities within the community. Held on campus, the event featured various stalls representing diverse organizations focused on sustainability, health, wellbeing, youth empowerment, and skill development.
The fair saw an impressive level of engagement, with 114 students completing the challenge to visit at least three stalls, resulting in over 342 interactions between students and stallholders. These numbers highlight the enthusiasm and commitment of ANU students to make a difference.
Stallholders provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, with one noting it as "one of the best expos they had ever attended"—a high compliment considering their extensive experience with such events. Another stallholder commented on the enthusiasm of the students, many of whom were keen to sign up for volunteering opportunities with minimal prompting. This eagerness underscores the proactive attitude of ANU students toward community involvement.
Event coordinator Chrissie Atkinson expressed her delight at the turnout, saying, "Volunteers contribute so much to our community every single day. But not only that, our students who volunteer also benefit immensely from the experience—whether it's making new friends, learning new skills, or finding ways to contribute from their unique perspectives."
The event also featured a giveaway competition, further encouraging student participation. Many students shared heartfelt reasons for their interest in volunteering, ranging from a desire to give back to the community to a passion for environmental sustainability and social justice. The ANU+ Volunteering Fair proved to be a resounding success, showcasing the power of student engagement and the positive impact of volunteering on both individuals and the broader community. The event not only connected students with opportunities to contribute but also highlighted the strong community spirit at ANU.
