Staff at the Tjabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre are here to help Indigenous students at ANU successfully navigate their university experience. 

Anne Martin

Anne Martin  

Director

Anne is a Yuin woman from La Perouse, south-east of Sydney. As Director of the Tjabal Centre, her goal is to ensure all Indigenous students who come to ANU have the best possible chances of success. Fondly known as Aunty Anne, her motto is to "Keep students in the field of play." 

Anne has been at the Tjabal Centre since 2012. She will always make time for students and is available via email, walk-in or booked appointments. 

Andrew Coulter

Scholarship Program Manager

As the Scholarship Program Manager, Andrew oversees the suite of Indigenous scholarships offered by the University, including the Kambri Indigenous Undergraduate Scholarship.  

Andrew is available via appointment or drop-in sessions to discuss any issues with your scholarship or to help identify any scholarships you may be eligible for. 

Andrew has worked at ANU since 2005, focusing on administering coursework scholarships, with experience in student fees, and HDR scholarships and enrolments.

Braedyn Edwards

Executive Assistant

Braedyn is a descendant of the Kamillaroi/Kunja mobs of Northern NSW/South West Queensland. As Executive Assistant to Aunty Anne, he is responsible for a range of tasks, including diary management. Email him if you would like to book an appointment with Aunty Anne. 

Braedyn has been at ANU as a student since 2016, studying Law and Arts, and has worked at the Tjabal Centre in various capacities since 2018.

Marcia Mitchell

Marcia Mitchell

Senior Administration Officer

Marcia is of the Meriam (Eastern) and Kal La Lagau Ya (Western) language groups of the Torres Strait. Marcia has been working at the Tjabal Centre since 2017.  

As the Senior Administration Officer, some of her roles include working with the Kambri Scholars, assisting with scholarship payments, pastoral care for all Tjabal students and House Parent for the Summer and Winter School programs. As Marcia is working remotely from Cairns, North Queensland, she also assists with student recruitment in Queensland. 

Cathleen Nansen

Centre Manager

Cathleen has worked at ANU for nine years, delivering student-service support to both Pacific Island and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Cathleen has been a part of the Tjabal community since 2015, working in recruitment, academic skills and student support. Cathleen now oversees and implements the Centre's operational administration and financial responsibilities, as well as providing staff and student pastoral care.  

Currently working remotely, Cathleen is available through email, phone or Zoom/Teams to discuss any concerns or questions about the Tjabal Centre.

Georgia North

Georgia North

Academic and Student Support Officer 

As the Tjabal Academic and Student Support Officer, Georgia provides support and advice to undergraduate and postgraduate students on a broad range of administrative and academic matters.  

Located on the ground floor (upstairs) of the Tjabal Centre, Georgia is available for appointments and drop-in sessions to discuss your enrolment, course selection, timetabling, degree management and more. 

Georgia has worked at ANU for five years, delivering client and student support in a range of administrative and College areas. 

Ravana Saifoloi

Ravana Saifoloi

Indigenous Tuition Programme Officer 

Ravana is an ANU alumna, who graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing). She has worked for Student Equity in conjunction with Pasifika Australia at ANU during her time as a student. Currently, Ravana works as the Indigenous Tutor Program Coordinator for the Tjabal Centre; she has been in this role since 2018.

Peter Swanton

Peter Swanton

Student Recruitment Officer 

Peter is an ANU alumnus, having graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics. Since graduating, Peter has taken the position of Student Recruitment Officer at the Tjabal Centre, where he develops programs and strategies to engage young Indigenous students in pursuing higher education. Peter also assists prospective students with their applications, and provides information to students on alternative pathways to university.

Sarah Loynes

Sarah Loynes

Communications Officer 

Sarah is a Gamilaroi Yularoi woman with family ties to Walgett, NSW. As Communications Officer, Sarah is responsible for disseminating information about the Tjabal Centre's services, events and news across the Centre's social media platforms, regular emails to the Indigenous student and staff cohort and in monthly newsletters. Sarah has been a student of the ANU since 2016, studying a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Archaeological Practice, and has worked at the Tjabal Centre since 2019 in various positions.
