Learn how to grow delicious, fresh veggies and herbs in pots at home on your balcony, windowsill or in a courtyard

* this workshop is free for ANU students

Learn how to grow delicious fresh veggies and herbs in pots at home on your balcony, windowsill or in a courtyard. You don't need to have a 'green thumb' to successfully grow at home, you just need to know some tips and tricks!

This hands-on workshop will give you the basic skills and knowledge you need to plant, care for and harvest from some easy to grow herbs and vegies. Growing even just a couple of plants has great benefits for mental health, helping to relieve stress - and if they're edible the bonus of free, healthy food!

We will cover:

  • What plants need to thrive
  • Transplanting
  • How and when to water and feed plants in pots
  • Sun and heat - how much and when?
  • Frost and cold - what to do and which plants will survive?
  • Common pests and organic ways to help plants
  • The best spot to choose for your plant
  • How to harvest

You will have the option take home a pot with a herb or vegetable plant to try at home. Please be prepared to transport home a pot with soil and plant in it.
