Reducing your study load as an international student (Coursework)

International students who are not studying on a Student Visa will be required to apply to drop courses (reduce their study load), however, they will not be required to demonstrate compassionate/compelling grounds exist for their courses to be dropped, as any visa they may have does not have the primary purpose of study in Australia.

Withdraw from a program as a domestic coursework student

If you decide you no longer want to continue studying at ANU, you should withdraw from your program.

Your withdrawal will be effective from the date the application is received by the University.

If you stop attending classes but don't notify the University that you wish to withdraw, you will remain an enrolled student and will be charged fees and receive fail results for your enrolled courses.

Repeating a failed course

If you fail a course, you will be permitted to re-enrol in it in a subsequent semester should the course be available.  

You can seek permission to re-enrol in a course for a third time using the Manage My Degree eForm, via ISIS.

You will not be permitted to re-enrol in a course a fourth time.

Program leave - domestic coursework student

Domestic coursework students who have had effective enrolment in at least one course in their current program at ANU are not required to request program leave from their studies. If you have not had effective enrolment in a minimum of one course, you may be able to apply to defer your offer (refer to Advisory Information).
