Southeast Asian Frontiers short course in Thailand

Southeast Asian Frontiers is a 12-unit four-week intensive interdisciplinary course that involves a combination of lectures, language training, fieldwork and research. This program will introduce you to Thai and Burmese language and culture to frame your investigation into humanitarian issues, international relations, transnational security, human rights and border trade.

International organisation law in Geneva

This course provides students with a substantive overview of the activities of international organisations (governmental and non-governmental) located in Geneva, focusing on the legal issues arising in their operations or area of concern.

Students will spend two weeks in Geneva. Formal academic instruction will be provided in part by the accompanying ANU staff member and in part by staff drawn from local academic institutions, NGOs, etc.

Bachelor of Philosophy (PhB)

This joint degree with the National University of Singapore, prepares high performing students with an interest in chemistry, mathematics and physics, for a research degree while still equipping them with the full range of skills obtained through a Bachelor of Science.

Every student receives intensive mentoring and opportunities to participate in research with world renowned academics.

Vietnam field school

The emphasis of this course is on integrating formal learning with first-hand experience with in-country work will including fieldtrips, a village stay, language training, urban homestay, as well as formal classes given by staff from ANU and from the University of Da Nang.

Washington internship program

The Washington Internship Program is a course offered by the School of Politics & International Relations at ANU, incorporating a seven-week internship in the United States Congress.

Equivalent full-time student load

Equivalent full-time student load (EFTSL) is the measure used to determine a student's study-load.

The University sets a unit value for each of its courses. One EFTSL is the amount of student load determined by the University to be equal to a full-time load at 100 percent intensity for one student for one year.

At ANU one EFTSL is 48 units, or 8 x 6-unit courses.
